I made another early morning trip to the Arkansas River last Saturday to find this image but, sadly, I missed the best light. It wasn’t long after I started my hike that I noticed, through the trees, that the horizon was glowing a magnificent red color and I was not where I wanted or needed to be. Attempts to cut straight down to the river were thwarted by a six foot chain link fence hidden in the woods. The light passed in front of my eyes and was very disappointed. However, after coming to terms with my circumstance, I resumed my hike and arrived at my planned destination several minutes later. I savored my time, enjoyed the scenery, experimented with different camera settings and locations, and captured a few images. Still waiting to hit a home run but the fly ball practice was fun. Fortunately, there’s always next time, and since it’s still daylight savings time, sunrise doesn’t occur until nearly half past seven. Without a doubt I’ll be down by the river this Saturday well before sunrise and ready to go before the sky begins to glow.
