Photography Workshop

Last week Oklahoma photographer, Kim Baker, presented some of her work to our local photography group.  It was great.  She mainly shoots landscapes on a medium format camera and her photographs are outstanding.  Click here to visit her website which features some truly beautiful images from all over Oklahoma.  I hope I am able to emulate her work someday.  Kim will also be leading a photography workshop in November at Keystone Lake, and guess what?  I signed up to attend!  Space is limited so I was happy to find that there was still room for me.

For this week’s image please take a look at my new header.  It will probably change in the future but for now it’s a photograph I took of the Arkansas River from the 71st Street Bridge.  That’s downtown Tulsa in the background.  For the capture I applied what I learned at Kim’s presentation: use a tripod, slow shutter speed, and morning light.  Morning light means getting out there in the dark before sunrise, which I did.  As a matter of fact, according to my EXIF data, I took the picture at 6:41 am  and had an exposure of 30 seconds.  Sunrise wasn’t until 7:14 am.  Such efforts make a difference but I still have a long way to go.
