Price Falls

Price Falls is, in the opinion of some Oklahoma landscape photographers, one of the top subjects to capture in the state. It was high on my list at least. Over Thanksgiving weekend I finally made the trip. The day after Thanksgiving no less. It was an outing I had visualized many times after admiring superlative renditions by some of Oklahoma’s finest; Kim Baker, Michael Hardeman and David Fitzgerald. So on my Black Friday, while others shopped, I shot.

I could not have asked for better weather. Steel wool skies tumbled by in the morning air and the temperature hinted of late fall. The day spoke, “Winter is coming.” If that sounds dreary, to a photographer, the conditions blazed brilliant for shooting waterfall and foliage. Clouds act as a filter to reduce glare and increase color saturation. If I failed to make a worthy capture, weather was not at fault.

Nor could I blame a crowd; I had the place to myself. Not a single person was in my way. The only sign of life was a dump truck I saw on my way into the Falls Creek Youth Camp off-loading his fill material and a father with his son moving luggage near their car. Not sure if they were coming or going. I suppose every one else was shopping the stores for a great deal. Well, I found three in a quiet place and I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

  1. Just saw your pictures. They are really nice and the color is beautiful. Looks like the water was running pretty swift.
