Roaring Run is a wonderful stream located within the 3600 acre Roaring Run Natural Area near Jones Mills, Pennsylvania. The area was completely logged in he early 1900’s but is now a forest with many species and ages of hardwood trees. When I was there the water was up from recent rains and flowing magnificently. During my hike, along a trail created from an old logging railroad grade, I encountered many crossings. I had planned on getting my feet wet to make images, so they weren’t an issue, but the water sure was cold.
Here is a shot from a drier vantage point over a large boulder. It was a mostly overcast morning, with a few rays coming through every so often, so the lighting was just about ideal for forest conditions using a circular polarizing filter.
