Sunrise Ventures

For the last two weekends I’ve ventured out before dawn to the Arkansas River in the hope of capturing a sunrise photograph. Here are two of my favorites from those outings. While most may find the thought of waking up and heading out that early on their weekends inconceivable, I have discovered it to be rather salubrious. The mornings are cool. The air is fresh. The mind and body are renewed. Walkers, runners and cyclists express kindly encouragement, if nothing more than a friendly greeting. Obviously, they’re up an’ at ’em too and everyone has an easy time with parking. The hard part is knowing exactly where to go, in advance. Pondering the location to set up my tripod and D90 minutes before the sun comes up is not commodious. It’s inadequate for the purpose and I need to give it more consideration. Nevertheless, I enjoy the adventure and the best part is that I still get home in time to enjoy breakfast with my family. Of course they find the thought of waking up and heading out that early on their weekends inconceivable.
